Mr. Davis

Davis square isn’t much like a square at all. It’s more like hexagon-meets-thunderdome, with 6 roads colliding in a Euclidian deathmatch.

After peering at a picture by dan4th of the locally famous sign depicted the road formation, and being too caffeinated to know when not to follow through, Mr. Davis was born.

EDIT 6/26/06: As dan4th pointed out in the comments, the original picture was taken by Jesse Ev. Credit due!

Sweet! I’ve never liked that convergence of streets, but now every time I pass through, I will think of this cute face.

Pure genius. Can’t wait for the shirt!

  3. Dan4th says:

I seriously do want to see this shirt-ified. I’d buy one.

  4. Dan4th says:

Oh, I also need to point out that I did NOT take the base photo. That belongs to Jesse Ev. I just set it square.

I am working on Mr. Davis shirts!

Thanks for the square-setting. I’ll update the original post to include proper credits.

I have emailed a link to your design to a newly-forming Davis Square business association. If they want to get in touch with you, how would they do so? I can’t find an e-mail address anywhere on this blog.

  7. jeffrey says:

Wow! I can be reached at info@tinctoris.com.

  8. JesseEv says:

Glad the photo provided someone with a new t-shirt idea! Count me in for buying one!

That is AWFUL! LMAO. Im sorry. But come on, that’s histerical! Davis Square isn’t a kids ride at Disney Land. Wow, I mean, seriously now. That is histerical. Bunch of marketing geniuses here huh?

[...] Good news, everybody! The Davis Area Resident Business Association has contacted me about using Mr. Davis as their identity; we’ve talked a bit and I’ve accepted. Who better to be the face of Davis Square than Davis Square himself? Pending the contract being signed, you’ll see Mr. Davis’ smiling face more often. This also unfortunately means the end of the line for my Mr. Davis t-shirts. Once I hand him over, I can’t use him commercially; they’ve expressed interest in making their own, but that’s up to them. In other words, get them while they’re still here. [...]

[...] Mr. Davis mania continues. I just did a phone interview with the Boston Herald, and am going out to get my picture taken a bit later this afternoon. It’s all a bit surreal. Posted at 11:27 am [...]
