Ain’t No Easy Way Out

The Memorial day festivities went well, and involved tofu pups, veggie kabobs, and other munchies. While we grilled, we sat around outside and sang badly (this picture captures probably the worst performance of a Tom Petty song you could imagine). Desert was brownie sundaes with a rich chocolate ganache. And apparently this is going to turn into a food blog unless I watch myself.

I heard from the organizer that Saturday’s performance of Indra’s Net was once again well received. The piece has legs!

Memorial day went beautifully. Spinach Quiche, and Veggie egg-rolls and all kinds of other kosher goodies like bagels, lox, and cream cheese (understandable since it was a Jewish-Buddhist wedding, eh?).

I recited the Namo, the Three Refuges, and Five Precepts in Pali; Mel recited the Sheva B’rachot as we stood under a chuppah held aloft with bamboo. My mae tied us with the cords for a public Pook Mue ceremony; we and the guests were taught some Eastern European dance by the Louisville Ethnic Dancers; and friends and family (and, of course, il Troubadore) entertained during the reception.

I think I looked uncharacteristically smashing in my traditional Thai wedding suit! :D
