How very odd — I had forgotten that the 23rd was the darkest day. I was in the Ukraine, where it was actually above-freezing and sunny, and when the light went away I was on a train bound for Moscow.
I slept pretty well, considering that it was a train ride with three others I had never met before. The night passed, didn’t get to see the dawn but got to where I needed to go in the morning light.
J, let me know when you and V. get your Xmas gift from me, I hope you like it. Best, T.

I miss the train travel I did in Europe. Christmas here in Boston was surprisingly warm, the winter sun melting the snow away.
Tom, we did get your gift, thank you so much! Most of the utensils were quickly put to use on Christmas dinner.
